The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010)
Whilst "Twilight" was not a film of epic proportion, it was at least watchable thanks to a storyline that actually moved and was stitched together coherently and entertainingly. "New Moon" was mediocre at best. "Eclipse", the third, and by far worst, installment of the "Twilight Saga" suffered from unconvincing and poor acting, awful line delivery, far too cheesily-written lines, rushed plot, and terribly-executed action scenes... and not only. Worst of all, David Slade's direction was so amateurish and lame, it was laughable. The poor camera shots, the lack of art direction and the horrible, horrible editing, made this film look like made-for-TV. It seemed like they cut and pasted parts together without any real flow and called it a movie. Seriously, it was like a string of random scenes pulled together! Extremely choppy! Shame on you, David Slade! Also, they didn't have enough time to explain it fully, so they just pulled out some major points and stuck them together. As for the action sequences, well, you could hardly tell what was happening. Probably, Slade was attempting to make it look like they were moving in super speed, but unfortunately it came off in a very different way - flashing a bunch of quick images in front of viewer's face, that almost don't have a purpose isn't a great technique, right? Robert Pattinson again had a hard time forcing any genuine emotion through that pancake makeup, which was, a problem that concerned the entire cast of vampires. At least, his bland Keanu Reeves-like expression made him look half-alive, like his character in the movie. Kristen Stewart's performance could have been done with same 'success' by a plastic mannequin. She shows no emotion, and her allegiance to Jacob and Edward flips constantly. It was left to Taylor Lautner to add some energy into the movie. Well, he fairly did, because he's got a spark of charisma and great charm. Once again he was the 'eye candy', despite the bad lighting that made him look less attractive than in previous two installments. Anna Kendrick was perfect as Jessica. The graduation speech was, by my surprise, genuine and brilliantly delivered. Film's highlights were the only decent action sequence - the one with Victoria, and the tent scene and Jacob's hilarious line: "Let's face it.. I'm hotter than you". Yes, he was saying that to Edward. "Eclipse" is another tedious, over-long and frustrating entry into the "Twilight" saga that is strictly for fans, or for those like me that got this far, just go to see if it can possibly get any worse.
